"We are pleased to announce the creation of the Professional Rabbit
Meat Association. This new organization is for the purpose of
providing professional guidance, information, advice and the
exchanging of ideas on the rabbit meat industry for the serious
growers, processors, brokers and buyers. With the enthusiastic
encouragement received from the American Rabbit Breeders Association
(ARBA), we will be chartered with the ARBA upon their approval as a
commercial specialty association specifically for the rabbit meat
industry.
In no way is this to be a REGULATORY group by attempting to submit
legislation or laws governing the raising, breeding, or processing of
rabbit meat. The emphasis, here, is strictly in the provision of
PROFESSIONAL information and guidance.... FROM the professionals,
themselves, for the ultimate goal of supporting, promoting and
improving the professional rabbit meat industry as a whole, and for
better communication between the growers, processors, brokers and
buyers by the sharing of ideas and valuable experience. Naturally, for
the protection of our individual businesses, the right to withhold
information regarding specific "trade secrets" is to be honored at all
times.
We invite all persons interested in the professional rabbit meat
industry to join us, whether you are new to the industry, or a
seasoned and experienced rabbit meat producer, processor, broker or
buyer.
Membership fees have not yet been decided, and we wish to ask for some
input from those of you desiring to be a part of this historical new
organization. Please consider the benefits that you will receive as a
member:
A guide book geared specifically for the rabbit meat industry and to
include a variety of articles written by existing professionals and
authorities in the industry, including but not restricted to growing,
breeding, herd management, processing, just starting out, shipping to
market, genetics of the meat rabbit, hybrid vigor, etc.
This guide book (when ready) will be available in either hard copy or
electronically on the internet for members, only.
A bi-monthly newsletter with news updates on what's happening in the
industry and to include articles written and contributed by the
members. Again, this newsletter will be available either in hard copy
or on-line to members, only.
A Professional Rabbit Meat Association web site with special areas for
members, only, for quick reference to questions and answers on
specific areas regarding the industry.
An on-line listserve for members, only, for communication and
discussions.
More benefits are being planned! However, we wish to keep the
membership fees within reason for the rabbit meat people. Please
